My Very First Truck from Great Grandma and Grandpa

Dear Great Grandpa,

The card said for me to call you when I got my new truck today. The minute I opened it, I knew I was Great Grandma and Grandpa's favorite great grandson. Dad said something like I was yur only great grandson, but I still think I'm the favorite. Dad hasn't let me have a phone yet, but mom and dad said they'd help me write you a letter to say thank you.

My truck looks really cool and I can't believe I already have my very own truck fifteen years and ten months in advance of my sixteenth birthday! I can't wait to be old enough to drive it fast on my street. I wanted to try it tonight but dad says I can't quite reach the pedals yet.

I promise to take you for a drive one day when you come visit. I will take extra good care of it too. Thank you so much for giving me such a special truck.

Dad said that I should take extra special care of it to make you and Great Grandma proud. I was sad to hear that Great Grandma had to leave us today before I could say thank you, but I will always think of her when I ride in my truck. I'm sad to know that today you lost your buddy and the person that's been able to be your best friend.

I'm sure its a sad day to say goodbye to your buddy. I wish I could be there to give you a hug, drool on your beard, and put a smile on your face. I know it will never be exactly the same as what you had with with Grandma but know that you've got a new buddy with me.

Love You,

Your Buddy and Great Grandson - Tristan

How insanely cute is that! What a timeless treasure for him to pass on to his son or Grandson someday.

I was with my Dad when I received the text message from Tristan. I showed him the picture of the truck and tried to read through the letter from Tristan to his great grampa. I got most of the way through until he mentioned that great grandma missed the opening of the gift by one day. I stopped readying, passed the phone to my cousin, and asked him to finish. He made it through but not without tears as well.

Tristan, although Great Grandma was not around to see you get the truck, she knew you were going to get it and she was thrilled at the thought of you scooting around the house.

We will bring a Spartan “S” decal down at Christmas for your new truck. If we can find a horn with the MSU fight song we’ll bring that too.

Love ya tons.

Grandad Greg
