Looking back on our 3rd month together...

Wow, our third month with little guy was by far our most challenging yet! Being a parent is so hard sometimes, especially when you don't know how to help your baby when he's sick and hurting. I kept saying all month how I wished babies came with a decoder that would tell you what is wrong. Uhhhgg, this picture breaks my heart, but sadly this is a lot of what our third month entailed. We started off the month finally going to the doctor about Tristan's eating/screaming issues. I always could tell he had a terrible time with what I thought was gas. He would kick and scream after almost every feeding, and hated being layed on his back. It was awful. After finally realizing something else had to be wrong, the Dr. told us he has reflux and we started some medicine. It's been a continual issue for the past month. We just got a switch of medicine that will hopefully work better. There is nothing worse than to watch your baby in so much pain with nothing you can do to fix it. Please pray that God will heal him quickly and give us the strength, wisdom and patience to get through it and know how to take care of him.

Then, about a week after that, Tristan came down with his first cold. This was absolutely no fun. Poor guy probably has a complex now with how many times we put that booger sucker up his nose. And it's also amazing how many trips you will make to the store in hopes of getting something to help your child feel better. For us this included a battery powered aspirator, saline drops, saline spray, hot vaporizor, take it back, cold humidifier (call me if you want to know the difference, you don't know these things until you try it) and one trip to the doctor to end it all. When all was said and done, it was a cold and it just had to run it's course. It's so hard to listen to your baby all stopped up and breathing yucky. And then that poor little cough. I definitely think it's harder on the parents to watch it happen. And then comes the lack of sleep. Tristan was sleeping a good 7-8 hours at night before, but was waking up two times every night while he was sick. No rest for the weary. He was a trooper though and handled it all pretty well.

Then, we noticed Tristan's full head of hair, getting the inevitable yucky bald ring in the back. I know most babies with hair experience this, I think all moms hope it wont' happen to their child though. Poor baby, we're hoping it grows back soon!

But, there were also many many fun things that happened this month. Top on my list is seeing my sweet boy's smile. I love to see him smile. I get the most grins when I'm changing his diaper or clothes on his changing table. He loves this time and so do I. We sing songs, tickle and just smile at each other. So fun! We also had some fun playdates with friends. Here is our good friend Hayden Kate playing with Tristan in his room. It's so fun having a friend so close in age, they're just two weeks apart, we love it! We also celebrated his first Valentine's Day
(my talented friend Jessica made T this super handsome Valentine's Day outfit)
And got some goodies from my grandma and great grandparents
I just LOVE my cat in the hat book and stuffed animal!!I did not love making my daddy's Valentine as much! But I loved giving it to him!
Tristan's big trick of the month was learning to hold toys in his hand. His favorite toy is his bib though and he always has it in his mouth or hides behind it. He is my little love and even in the hard times, he is such a blessing and gift from God! Here's hoping these sick days are behind us and looking forward to month four!
Oh, and some more snapshots from our third month together...

hey girl! just wanted to let you know that my tristan had silent reflux too. it was awful he would have the hardest time and scream and scream. it is super common in baby boys born early, b/c their esophagus has a little flap on it that is not quite fully grown together yet, therefore, the reflux. just so you know, it gets so so so much better and totally goes away with time. hang in there. i forget what medicine works, i think ours was prevacid. anyway, hope it gets better. he is a cutie pie for sure!
