First Mother’s Day as a Mommy

DSC_1119-1

I think Mother’s Day is my new favorite day to celebrate! It was such a joy and honor to celebrate this special day with my family this year and is a day I will always cherish. Being a mother is such an indescribable blessing, and I couldn’t be more thankful to God for entrusting Justin and I with sweet Tristan. He is truly a gift from God, and it’s so much fun to begin the adventure of raising him. Oh how he has changed our lives in only a few short months!

It was also neat this year to have a whole new perspective, gratefulness and appreciation for my momma and Justin’s momma. To my mom for the unconditional love she gives and has given me my whole life. She always used to tell me I’d never understand until I had my own child, and now I do! I’m so thankful for her love and all she has done for me over the years. I’m so blessed to have a momma who loves God and me and would do anything for me. Thankful to Justin’s mom for raising such a wise, Godly man. He is a wonderful husband, and incredible daddy thanks to her years of love, example and instruction.

Okay, okay, so now for our Mother’s day…Tristan and Justin began the day surprising me with some sweet cuddles, kisses and gifts! Some new workout shorts, a blowup swimming pool for little man (combo gift…T gets to play, I get to work on my tan!), and the biggest was a surprise trip planned to go to Florida for a long July 4th weekend. Can’t wait…family time at the beach…I’ll start packing now!

We then headed to church for our “Parent Commissioning” aka…Tristan’s baby dedication. What a perfect day to commit to love and raise Tristan to know and love our Lord! This will be a whole post of its own, but it was so so special to get to do this on Mother’s Day.

After church, Gigi, Pop, Shayne, Kim, their kiddos and us headed to our house for some fun games and a Mother’s Day lunch. We spent all afternoon eating, playing Catchphrase, walking to the park, riding Tristan’s green truck, and playing tv freeze tag. I’m so thankful to have family so close and to get to share this special day together. I love you guys so much and thank God for each of you! What a special first mother's day!

letting loose a little after lunch...WK wanted some play clothes to wear to the park, so we dressed her up in Tristan's biggest clothes he had. It made for a pretty hilarious getup! Gotta love the pure, blind contentment and happiness of children in the simple things like playing at the park!

Those are great pics! I was just wondering, Tessa had told me you decided to be a SAHM (stay at home mom) and I was thinking, were you possibly going to get more into photography? You take such greeeeeeeeeat pics and I think you would be an awesome photographer!
